Scientists used to believe that the brain was a very rigid thing. The brain you were born with was the brain you had to deal with your whole life. Recent research, however, now contradicts this original theory. We now know that the brain is capable of changing and growing even during our golden years. So whether you are young and need a product to boost your mental capacity, or you are getting on in age and can’t remember things like you used to, nootropic supplements can work for you.
One such supplement, IQ150, promises to deliver many of the benefits you would find in your average nootropic supplement. But does it live up to these claims? Or is it an expensive waste of money? Our expert review team took a look at this particular nootropic. You may be surprised at what we found.

What is IQ 150?
IQ 150 is a nootropic supplement manufactured by a company called SomaLife. The company has been in business for almost 20 years, and specializes in the areas of age management, brain health, and longevity. They claim that their products work on a cellular level. They are also proud to say that their products are proprietary formulations that you cannot find anywhere else, and that every single natural ingredient that they include in their products has medical research and scientific data to back up its claims.
IQ 150 is their nootropic product. According to the manufacturer’s own website, IQ 150 is widely considered the world’s finest combination of all natural ingredients designed to help you with mental clarity, focus, and memory retention. It can also help with mental energy and clarity of thought.

Nootropic Ingredients in IQ 150
Unlike most of SomaLife’s products, IQ 150 doesn’t necessarily contain any proprietary blend of natural ingredients. But it does contain a special trademarked ingredient called Citicoline (trademarked as “Cognizin”). according to an Italian study published in 2006, this unique ingredient has been proven to help with various neurological disorders. Other ingredients include:
- Bacopa Monnieri – reportedly helps with anxiety, depression, memory problems, and dementia
- Turmeric Root Powder – contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds which can delay brain aging and improve mood
- Phosphatidylserine – helps brain cells communicate with one another more efficiently
- Green Tea Extract – proven antioxidant benefits
- Caffeine (from coffee beans) – a well-known cognition enhancer
- Phosphatidylcholine – improves memory and increases the concentration of certain nutrients in brain tissue
- Spanish Sage – contains beneficial phytochemicals which help neurons operate more efficiently
- Ginkgo Biloba – increases blood flow, especially across the blood-brain barrier
As you can see above, this product does contain about as much caffeine as a regular cup of coffee. If you are sensitive to caffeine, or if you drink a lot of caffeine on a regular basis, you should exercise caution when using this product. There may be unpleasant side effects such as tremors, restlessness, and sleeplessness or mild insomnia at night. These are all common side effects which people suffer when they ingest too much caffeine during the day.

Reviews for IQ 150
SomaLife has glowing praise for its flagship nootropic product. Customer reviews on Amazon, however, are less than stellar. The reviews are split along 60/40 lines, and not in favor of IQ 150. The biggest complaint, of course, is that they did not feel any nootropic effects from taking this supplement at all.
Will This Product Really Boost Your IQ up to 150 Points?
If it could, MENSA would have to considerably re-adjust its standards for admittance. Unfortunately for SomaLife, however, the evidence that our reviewers found shows that this product may fall short of its fantastic claims.
The Italian study that proves that its key ingredient, Cognizin, is effective in treating neurological disorders was published in a study that claims to be peer-reviewed, but does not seem to have very many barriers to entry.
Some companies love to publish studies in journals which are desperate for submissions in order to prove that their products work. Without further evidence from a peer-reviewed, highly respected journal, we have to say that something smells fishy about this.
Aside from Cognizin, this supplement doesn’t necessarily contain any special ingredients that more affordable nootropics don’t. And many of them have more positive customer reviews than we could find for IQ 150. If you would like to know what those products are, go ahead and click here.
